Gradually, I found myself using and selling drugs, fighting, clubbing, and in and out of jail. The people that I looked up to and considered role models were dying and going to prison. I realized that I was heading the same way.

My way of fixing things was to numb the pain by drinking alcohol. So that is what I did. But it didn’t work! The pain was still there.

Born and raised in Huntsville, my mom encouraged me to go to church and seek Christ, yet my dad battled substance-abuse issues his whole life. This ultimately led to their divorce.

Being born and raised in Madison, I had a good childhood with what I would call a “normal” family.
