The Downtown Rescue Mission, which provides food and shelter for men, women, and children in the Huntsville area, is an organization dedicated to helping these people.
Established in 1975, the Downtown Rescue Mission has touched the lives of many individuals. Throughout the years, we have revitalized the community by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of anyone who walks through our door, whether they are a chronic alcoholic, a teenage runaway, or a single mother in search of a place to stay. We have also catered to the diverse, ever-changing needs of our community. To account for changes in the population, we have expanded our missions to include discipleship programs, computer training, life skills instruction, and General Educational Development (GED) testing.
The Downtown Rescue Mission will continue serving the community in this manner. Not only will this require an expansion of our outreach, but it will also require an expansion of our funding. Because we do not receive funding from federal, state, county or city levels, we are solely dependant on the Lord to provide us with faithful donors. By contributing to our mission program, either by volunteering or donating funds, you can become partners with the Downtown Rescue Mission and help to make a difference in our community. As Paul says in 2 Corinthians 8:13, "Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality."
Though we may not be able to minister to every homeless person in the Huntsville area, the Downtown Rescue Mission continually strives to improve the lives of those individuals who come to us for assistance. Please help us to teach those in need that "God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him" (1 John 4:16).
The Downtown Rescue Mission is fully financial accountable and invites anyone to inspect our financial records during business hours. |
