FROM ADDICTION AND LOSS TO FAITH AND HOPE MIRANDA’S JOURNEY

Hi, my name is Miranda. My parents divorced at a young age, which led to a rough childhood. This
caused me to start drinking at a young age and continued heavily with experimenting drugs for 10 years.

When I had kids of my own and became a stay-at-home mom, those years resulted in boredom and anger because I wouldn’t stop my behavior. Eventually, I lost custody which caused me to take a darker path and stray further away from the Lord. Instead of praying, I covered my pain and anger up with cocaine, meth, pills, alcohol and men.

One day last year, I believe God had enough of my foolishness and selfishness, and He brought me to my knees on the bathroom floor crying out to Him. Finally, I was done running and feeling that way, and I asked God, “What do You want me to do?” I heard a small whisper saying, “I love you.” That was God.

Thanks to God’s love, mercy and grace, I discovered the Downtown Rescue Mission and am about to graduate its yearlong program. Now sober, my chains are broken, and I’m no longer angry with everyone. I’m so grateful and thankful, and I’m praying God will restore my relationships with my kids. I have faith that anything is possible through Christ.
