“We are excited about moving into Marshall County and telling our story to the Albertville, Guntersville and Boaz communities about the Downtown Rescue Mission,” says Dr. Darwin Overholt, Executive Director/Senior Pastor. “There are many men, women and children that utilize our services and stay at the mission from that area,” he adds.

The mission has grown tremendously over the last five years. They now serve more meals and have their beds slept in more than any other Gospel Rescue Mission in the state. It is essential to find alternate and creative ways to raise funds to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of the homeless in Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee.

“One reason we are opening more Bargain Centers is the increase in non-profits in the area. In the last ten years, non-profit organizations have increased 300% nationwide. It is getting harder to fund raise through our normal solicitation channels such as direct mailings,” comments Keith Overholt., Sr. Director of Development.

The store will sell quality, brand name used clothing, furniture, bedding, house wares, electronics and appliances at the store. In addition, the store will also accept vehicle donations for resale. All the proceeds from the store will go directly to the mission to provide food, clothing, shelter and Christian education in the name of Christ to the homeless in the Tennessee Valley.
